Taylor-Joy left high school at 16 in order to pursue an acting career. Anya Taylor-Joy was born on April 16, 1996, in Miami Florida. The daughter of Dennis Alan Taylor, a ex-bank executive, along with Jennifer Marina Joy, a psychologist is half English and half Spanish. Her father was an Argentine with Scottish as well as English roots. The Spanish and mother, who speaks English, is her father. Taylor-Joy is the youngest of five children from her father's prior marriage. Buenos Aires was her home until the age of 6, after which the family moved to Victoria at London. Taylor-Joy stated that her move was painful, and she refused to pursue a degree in English in the hope of be able to return to Argentina. The school she attended had to be changed to Northlands to Hill House. She later enrolled at Queen's Gate School where she studied ballet and acted in school plays. When she was 16 she dropped out of school to pursue a full-time career in acting. Taylor-Joy's desire to become an actor of professional caliber was born at an early age.
